Craft with paper plates and recipes

For this first craft, the children will have everything they need to imagine that they are one of the greatest chefs. Help your child prepare a “meal” with cut-out pictures of food and other materials.

What is needed?

  • Old kitchen magazines or food brochures
  • Barnsax
  • Paper
  • Glue
  • Glitter
  • Caramel color (optional)

How-to?

  • Have your child cut out the pictures and discuss the different dishes and foods.
  • Ask which foods interest you the most and why they want them on their plate.
  • Let the child compose their own special meal by pasting different pictures of food on the paper plates.
  • Use different pictures so that your child can compose their own menu.
  • If you want to add an extra dose of imagination to this craft,  add a little caramel color to the white glue so that your child can pretend it is mustard, ketchup or sauce.
  • When the gourmet collagen is ready, the child can play with them in their fantasy games and pretend and serve food to their dolls and stuffed animals.

2. An aquarium in a shoe box

An aquarium is excellent for a variety of creative crafts. In a shoebox you can recreate an underwater world and simulate an aquarium full of cardboard fish.

What is needed?

  • Aluminum foil or colored paper
  • Yarn or strings
  • Paint
  • Cardboard for making fish and other sea creatures
  • Tape, stones, pearls and everything else that can be incorporated into the aquarium

How-to?

  • Help your child paint the entire shoe box. Then cut out two large rectangular windows on the long sides of the box so you can look into the wonderful water-filled world. If you prefer, you can use aluminum foil or colored paper instead of paint to cover the box.
  • Put all the decorations in the aquarium, and make some treasure chests and fish. You can cut out pictures from newspapers or print pictures from the internet. Make sure the sea creatures always have two sides.
  • Make a hole in the top of each figure and thread a small piece of string through the hole.
  • Cover or color the lid to match the rest of the box. Then make small holes in the lid with a pencil to hang the fish. Thread the free end of the string through the hole in the lid and fasten with a large knot to hold it in place.

3. Easter Bunny Ireland

The last trick is a wreath of Easter bunnies to inspire your child as Easter approaches.

What is needed?

  • Construction paper in different colors
  • White cotton and buttons
  • Cotton thread
  • Scissor
  • Pen
  • Glue
  • Rabbit template

How-to?

  • Print a rabbit template that you draw yourself or that you found online and help your child cut it out.
  • Using the cut-out template, draw the shape of the rabbit on the colored construction paper. Then cut out several new rabbits.
  • Put on eyes with buttons and tails with white cotton and glue them on the colorful rabbits.
  • Make a hole in the top of each rabbit and thread the cotton thread through the paper rabbits with alternating colors until your garland reaches the desired length.
  • Now your beautiful Easter garland is ready to be hung up!

Finally, it is important to emphasize that children are usually enthusiastic when they first get a new hobby. Use this to your advantage.

If you are trying to do some of these crafts for children aged 3 to 5 years and your child just is not interested, it is better not to force it.

The important thing is first and foremost that your child has fun in a natural way.
