Do You Know The Kassing Method?

Do you know the Kassing method?

Today we will explain the Kassing method, something that is very beneficial for the little ones.

The casing method is a bottle feeding technique. The purpose is to give the baby the same experience when fed with a bottle as when breastfeeding in the conventional way.

The method was created by Dr. Dee Kassing several years ago. It focuses on making the bottle feeding feel natural to the baby. What is most interesting is that the method stimulates the baby to get a grip on the pacifier in a way so that the bottle does not constitute an obstacle if you also want to breastfeed.

The method is perfect for mothers who start with a bottle, but who then want to switch to breastfeeding if they still have milk. Of course, it is also suitable for mothers who cannot or do not want to breastfeed, and allows them to experience the same closeness to the baby when it is time to feed.

Remember that babies who are used to bottle-feeding may have difficulty returning to breastfeeding. Dee Kassing developed the method precisely to avoid this problem. It consists of stimulating the grip and suction that takes place with the mother’s breast.

Feeding with bottle

Bottle feeding is an excellent option in itself, but if you prefer to mix breastfeeding with the bottle, you can use the Kassing method.

At the same time, it is important to think about certain things when feeding with a bottle.

The bottle requires good hygiene habits when used. If bacterial infections cannot occur, always clean the bottle thoroughly.

One of the benefits of using a bottle is that it makes it much easier for the baby to eat because it does not have to suck and exert as much effort to get the food.

To start using the Kassing method, you need to decide what type of pacifier you will use. It must be completely round, avoid “anatomical” variants. Round pacifiers have a “slow flow” with a narrow, soft base and a width of around two centimeters.

Buy a straight bottle that is not shaped in any way. Straight bottles make the milk flow more slowly, which means that the baby is forced to work a little harder to suck.

As I said , the top of the pacifier must be round so that it resembles the shape of the mother’s nipple. It must also be long so that it can reach the place in the mouth where the soft and hard palate meets, which happens during normal breastfeeding.

The pacifier must have a “slow flow”. That way, the baby is forced to work a little harder to get the milk to flow, just as she would at her mother’s breasts. It also means that it takes longer to finish the bottle, and it is good for digestion.

Baby eats from bottle

Just as important as the pacifier is the position you give the baby the bottle in. The baby should sit more upright and the bottle should be as horizontal as possible.

In this way, the influence of gravity is reduced. The baby must therefore exert itself in the same way as at the breast. It is also what controls the speed and amount of milk.

To achieve this, it is recommended to place the baby at a 90-degree angle. You have to put your hand under the baby’s head and neck, and the other on the bottle. Remember to always keep it horizontal so that the milk is not poured into the baby’s mouth.
