Thank You For Not Being My Best Friend Mom

Thank you for not being my best friend's mom

Mom, thank you for never trying to be my best friend. You do not know what an incredible service you have done me. Thanks to you, I am who I am today. I do not think you could have done it much better. Forget what people say that they are their children’s best friends. They do not know what a  huge mistake they are making.

A mother should set boundaries. You’ve always seen the best in me, even if I did not always agree. Sometimes I thought it was to annoy me, but it was my mistake:  everything you did, you did out of love. You have raised an independent daughter who can defend herself and who today is very proud of her mother. That’s why I thank you.

Thank you for being there in my bad times

I remember when I was little and did not have many friends. I was very shy and the other children had fun with me. You were the first to tell me not to listen to them,  that they had no reason to laugh at me.

You said that I was good and special, and that  people who make others feel bad are not worthy of any attention. Thank you for all the nights you read fairy tales to me. That you never forgot to tell me how much you loved me.

Your support was so great that I thought you would one day be my best friend. But you said no, you could not be my best friend,  you could only be better: you could be my mother. I did not really understand then, but you were right.

Thank you for all the times you said NO, quarreled with me or punished me. Thank you, because through your strength I have learned to learn from my mistakes. Thanks to you, I know how expensive that phone is and what hard work goes into getting it.

Thank you mom for your guidance

Thank you for all those hours you spent next to my hospital bed. For all the fever nights, cases, scars and hospital stays I have exposed you to. Because you helped me get over chickenpox and mumps, and spent a small fortune on my health.

Because you held my hair while I vomited and because you calmly told me I was going to be okay. For the vaccines you forced me to take because even if they hurt  , they were for my own good.

Thank you for being my shoulder to cry on after my first disappointments in love. Because you taught me what respect is and not to subordinate me or conform to people who pretend to love me.

Thank you, too often I deserved an ear file without you giving me one. You made me trust me and understand that there are things in this world that cannot be fixed.

Thank you for the good times

I appreciate the happy moments. With you I share not only the sorrows but also my moments of joy. You have always been my greatest asset. You’ve taught me how to get up after life. You have celebrated my triumphs as if they were yours.

You trusted me without a moment’s hesitation. You have never doubted my courage, even though I am human and make mistakes. You have always encouraged me to be independent, to live and relate. You have never lied to me, spared me no constructive criticism. And you do not know how much I appreciate it.

Thank you for being a mother

You’ve always had the right mother. You raised and educated me and then let me go. You did it with tears in your eyes, because you knew that the next time you saw your daughter, she would be a woman.

But do not be sad mother. If it were not for your sacrifices, I would never have come this far. You convinced me I was brave. Thank you again for your wisdom. Because if I become a mother one day, I hope I can be as good as you. I love you mother.
