A Letter From The Baby Who Wakes You Up At Night

A letter from the baby that wakes you up at night

Dear mother, I know that your nights have changed a lot since I arrived. One has been harder than the other, and I understand that it also affects your days. I see you and appreciate your tired look. That’s why I feel so happy and blessed, even if I wake you up at night.

Even when you sacrifice yourself and give me everything in return for nothing, I see the happiness you feel about having me. I find the best refuge in your arms – the truth about life and love. Your warmth and your tenderness. The joy that makes my world go round.

Thank you for loving me and hanging on time and patience. Because you comfort me so softly and sweetly. I also thank you for every song you sing to calm me down when I wake you up at night. For the classic stories you tell me, when you give my imagination wings.

I appreciate your sacrifices

Mom, I appreciate the nights we shared since I came into your life. For example, yesterday, when I woke up almost every hour to ask you to hold me in your arms. I wake you up at night because I need you. A world where I do not hear your heartbeat every second scares me.

I need your protection, your restraint and your affection. There is so much peace and security in your arms that words cannot describe it.

You offer me the richest and healthiest thing in the world with a smile: breast milk. I cling to you with my little fingers. Even if your eyelids struggle to stay open, never take your eyes off me. You look at me as if you were looking into my soul.

This is how I learn the value of sacrifice and devotion. Through you I learn about unconditional love and generosity. I really appreciate everything you have done and continue to do for me every day. That’s why I want to apologize for waking you up at night. I do it just to be close to you, my heroine.

I know you need to sleep. But you know what? I can not control my sleep stages or my needs. They were programmed by biology. Do not listen to those who say I’m trying to manipulate you. I need security just as much as I need a stomach full of milk and a clean diaper.

I still do not know the weight or function of walls and ceilings. To me, my refuge is your arms. You are my salvation, my world, my food and my whole life. Dismiss those who say it’s time for me to become independent.

I’m still a little baby, just a few months old. Only with time will I learn to become self-sufficient and independent. You will teach me lots of lessons about life, but for now I want to enjoy you. Time goes by so fast, and before you know it, it’s too late.

Sleeping baby

I can not deny that I need you for absolutely everything. You are my staff and my guide. My light and my way. Believe me when I say that I really need you to answer my cry, it’s not without reason. Thank you for responding to my crying regardless of the time of day, even if I wake you up at night.

With all your beautiful gestures of love, you show me that the world is a beautiful place after all. Thank you for giving me the comfort I need at night. You forget that the next day you have to go to work and have lots of other chores to do.

Whatever happens, keep your head high with the knowledge that this is just an investment. In the future, the difficult nights will only be a memory. A transient anecdote about how strong and brave you can be.

When you think back, you will see that for every bitter moment there were thousands of motherly blessings.

In the meantime, your hugs and kisses are all I need. So I promise you that once I’m ready, I’ll find my own way. Thanks to everything you have done for me, my path will be stable and happy. You’re my favorite person in the world. I love you with both heart and soul.
