If Pregnancy Is Affected By Lunar Eclipses

If the pregnancy is affected by lunar eclipses

Lunar eclipses are phenomena that have fascinated mankind for a long time, and many mythologies have been based on the notion that we are affected by lunar eclipses.

Of course, these mythologies include many stories of pregnant women. Nature is beautiful and mysterious. Human life is linked to the stars, lunar phases and even lunar eclipses.

Science does not take all this mythology into account, but it has still inspired a lot of scientific research.

The moon has traditionally been considered to have an effect on the harvest, the plants, the tide, the behavior of animals and even fertility.

The moon is also linked to aspects such as balance, health and luck. It has also been said that there is a connection between the menstrual cycle and the lunar phases.

Everything that has to do with fertility and the female body has a connection to natural phenomena, and pregnant women have been warned to watch lunar eclipses.

We do not really know where these ideas come from, but they are found in many cultures around the world. Many women still choose not to look at lunar eclipses of superstition, even if they do not really believe in it.

The consequences

According to the superstitions, the baby can suffer from the following if a pregnant woman looks at a lunar eclipse:

  • The baby can get deformities, like a cleft lip.
  • The baby can get birthmarks, discolorations on the skin and even sores on the skin.
  • The baby can be born without organs or limbs, such as a finger.

Lunar eclipses do not, of course, affect pregnancy itself, as has long been thought, but stress and anxiety can give rise to psychological problems, which in the worst case can have psychosomatic consequences.

Pregnant women are generally more cautious, and are therefore more susceptible to psychological threats.

The human mind is affected by lunar eclipses

Everyone can be affected emotionally by a lunar eclipse, and pregnant women are therefore more affected due to the hormonal changes they go through.

Specialists believe that the human rhythm can be changed by lunar eclipses and seasonal changes.

People with the following ailments can therefore be affected during a lunar eclipse:

  • Epilepsy
  • Schizophrenia
  • General psychiatric problems

However, science has not found any connection between pregnancies, birth rates or crime statistics.

Lunar eclipse and mythology

According to Aztec mythology, the moon can affect human fertility. It can therefore affect everything from conception to how the fetus develops.

The Aztecs believed that a lunar eclipse gives birth to newborns.

Conditions such as blindness, deafness or that the child was dumb were considered to have an astrological explanation. On the other hand, it was also believed that these problems could be avoided.

A woman could prevent the child from being endangered by following these tips:

  • Wear a red scarf.
  • Wear a red ribbon around the waist.
  • Tie a piece of metal to the clothes. Scissors were especially recommended.
  • Avoid performing their needs outdoors.
  • Move sounds away. The family could help to make noise to scare away everything bad. They could shout, hit boilers or hit other metal objects.

There has long been a lot of advice for women in lunar eclipses. The ideas that say that pregnancy is affected by lunar eclipses have no scientific basis, but the advice that claims to prevent the consequences has in many cases at least reassured women.

Many mothers listen to this advice because they simply feel that they have nothing to lose.
