Little Heroes Fighting Against Childhood Cancer

Little heroes fighting childhood cancer

There are superheroes who wear resistance like their mantle, who with their strength fight every day against childhood cancer. Brave and strong children who, together with their families, lead the fight against the disease.

The superheroes in question are small in size, but they have big hearts and endless courage and hope. February 15 is International Childhood Cancer Day – then we celebrate them with our words.

Brave children with brave faces

There are many little superheroes; they are brave souls who fight against childhood cancer, supported by their family and friends. Children who one day without warning suffered from this terrible disease  and who are forced to protect themselves against it with strength and courage.

The little superheroes are innocent children, obsessive, impatient, calm, playful and arrogant… They are children after all. Each with their own personality and their own characteristics, different and unique, but with a common goal: to win the battle over cancer.

These little superheroes are fighting for tomorrow every day with a smile when everything storms.  When you see them, you can see in their eyes how hope shines brighter than fear, even if the fear sometimes bubbles to the surface.

It is in these moments that parents, family members and friends take out the brush and paint their gray sky with a different color, where the storm is not visible. And together they fly away.

But there are times when gray is inevitable and the little superheroes must learn to live with that color. A color that finally colors them in gold, like the bright stars in the sky that shine on us every day, and guides the little superheroes who fight on.

Child warriors and support

The smiles of the little superheroes remind us that their struggle is constant and stubborn, but also that our support is a much-needed protection against the difficulties.

The loving protection is sewn together with yarn of hugs and unconditional support that gives strength in the fight. So if they flutter in their resilience, the child gets new nourishment from everything that family, friends, caregivers and organizations contribute.

These little superheroes are the main characters in their own fairy tales, but we must not forget that we can help. With a kiss, a supportive word, a smile, a hug, participation in the treatment process or an investment in research.

Everything matters, from the smallest gesture to the big details and resources. For the superheroes, it is important that everyone wins the battle.

Our mission: to follow them, love them and give them the strength  to remember that they are often stronger than they think. It’s not easy to be a superhero, but the battle is so great that it does not go unnoticed. The greatness of the superheroes is remarkable because childhood cancer requires courage, and much of it. They are brave, resilient children.

We are united

This year, many children around the world have raised their voices in support  of all the superheroes fighting in the fight against childhood cancer, thanks to the International Confederation of Childhood Cancer’s initiative in the form of a careful song by Christophe Beck, who wrote the music for Frost. The song is called  “We are one”, which translated into Swedish becomes “Vi är enade”.

The chorus goes like this:

The song “We are one” is a symbol of support, where feelings of love and support have been set to music and shared. A nice gesture that helps us understand that the fight is divided and that our support provides protection for the little superheroes. It gives them strength and new opportunities, and contributes to the continued struggle of everyone.
