Signs That You Should Call A Pediatrician Directly

Signs that you should call a pediatrician immediately

When you are a first-time mother, it can sometimes feel like every little thing is serious, and the visits to the pediatrician become constant. If something worries you, you should of course call a pediatrician immediately to make sure your child is okay.

When you should call a pediatrician

Today we want to talk about some signs to look out for, and if they are true for your baby, you should call a pediatrician immediately.

Cold feet

They have very cold hands and feet

If your baby’s feet and hands feel cold, place your hands on their breasts to feel their temperature there. If their breasts are warm and pink, there is nothing wrong.

Your baby’s circulatory system is still under development. Their blood is often redirected to the major organs and systems. Because that’s where it’s most needed. It is because of this that their hands and feet are the last parts of the body that take part in the blood circulation.

It can take up to three months for young children’s circulation to fully adapt to life outside the womb. Meanwhile, it is common for the little ones to have colder hands and feet than normal.

As your baby begins to move more, circulation will begin to improve. But visit your pediatrician if the baby’s lips are purple and you can not get the baby warm.

Crying children

There is blood in the baby’s diaper

The same parent hormones that can cause inflammation in the testicles and lips can also cause a baby’s vaginal discharge to contain blood. Do not worry if you see some blood in your baby’s diaper during the first few weeks of their life.

For little girls, this little period lasts for only a few days. Sometimes the blood can be concentrated in the urine and therefore look much darker. But if the blood is clear red or if there is a lot, you should call a pediatrician as soon as possible.

They have blisters on their lips

Many newborns develop a lump or blister on the lips from sucking on a baby bottle or breastfeeding a lot.

In some cases, the blisters can also come from the fact that they have sucked on the thumb in the uterus and also from birth.

A callus or lump can form on their lip, but these will soon disappear. If they do not go away, go to your doctor to find the best possible solution.

Diarrhea

When children under three months have diarrhea, there may be a risk of dehydration, and it can be life-threatening. So it is very important that you see a doctor quickly if your baby has diarrhea. But you also need to be able to determine if it really is diarrhea or not.

Breastfeeding babies often have liquid, mustard-yellow stools. Babies who are fed breast milk supplement may have better bowel movements and the color of the stool may therefore be slightly darker, but will still have a liquid or soft consistency.

There are newborn babies who poop several times a day, while others only do it a few times a week. What matters is that your baby gains weight and does not have a stomach ache or is swollen.

It can sometimes be difficult to distinguish normal bowel patterns from those caused by diarrhea, especially if you are breastfeeding your baby.

Babies who breastfeed usually poop after every meal. It is best to get to know your baby and know what is normal or not (frequency, volume, consistency…). If anything changes, call your pediatrician.

If you can not see these signs on your baby, but notice that something is not as usual and are considering going to the doctor, do not hesitate to calm your worries.

It is important that if you think your child is crying too much, if the skin is scaly or has a strange color, if it sneezes a lot, breathes strangely… or if you have any other concerns, call a pediatrician so as not to stress up you.
